THINGS TO DO
SEDONA & VERDE VALLEY

To assure Sedona’s sustainability as a natural, spiritual wonder for generations to come, we invite you to join our culture of respect for our environment and way of life by agreeing to these 9 pledge points.

1. The rocks are red and the silence is golden. I vow to respect the natural quiet of Sedona's open spaces and neighborhoods.
2. I will be mindful of Sedona's arid environment by minimizing my water and energy use and I will be extremely careful with fire.
3. I’ll make my own memories, but not my own trails.
4. I won't risk life or limb (human or sapling) for more likes. I won't get killed for a killer photo.
5. When playing outside, I'll be ready for rapid changes in weather and random episodes of magic.
6. Leave No Trace and pack out trash - that includes TP and pup poo!
7. I will discover art in Sedona's galleries rather than making my own. Carving on trees or rocks, stacking stones, or defacing the environment diminishes nature's art.
8. If I can't find a parking spot, I will not invent my own. I will go with the traffic flow, using my turn signal often and my car horn seldom.
9. I’ll be caring and considerate wherever I go, because that's the Sedona way.

Nestled beneath the shade of the sycamores on the banks of beautiful Oak Creek in Sedona, Tlaquepaque is the most distinctive Sedona shopping experience to be found in the Southwest. Authentically fashioned after a traditional Mexican village, Tlaquepaque, meaning the "best of everything," has been a Sedona landmark since the 1970's. Its vine covered stucco walls, cobble-stoned walkways and magnificent arched entryways give you the feeling that Tlaquepaque has been here for centuries. Tasteful galleries and unique shops live in harmony with its lush natural environment where giant sycamore trees stand in testimony to the care taken in preserving the timeless beauty of the Tlaquepaque grounds. It would be hard to find more beautiful surroundings anywhere to create a shopping experience like no other.

Fishing in the Verde Valley

Oak Creek is one of Arizona's most beautiful classic trout streams. Lush vegetation and gorgeous scenery backdrop an incredible fishery flowing downstream through a deep canyon gorge. The stream is stocked year round with Rainbow trout, but is also home to some beautiful carry-over and wild Rainbows, as well as some big wary wild Brown Trout that date back to the early 1900's and Zane Grey. If you're looking for the most beautiful place to fly fish in Arizona, this is it!.  The Verde River is one of Arizona's only two Wild and Scenic Rivers, yet it remains relatively undiscovered as a recreational resource. That doesn't mean this clear desert stream has little to offer. It's an excellent place to fish for a number of species including trout, which the Arizona Game and Fish Department has begun stocking on a put and take basis. The Verde is also becoming more and more popular for recreational boating. Some stretches provide scenic canoeing among long pools and manageable riffles. Other sections become exciting whitewater runs during the spring snowmelt or after late summer thunderstorms.
