Recently Sedona was voted the number one most underrated place to visit of 2019. VacationRenter did a survey where they asked 1,000 travelers across the country the best place to go with little fanfare. Sedona came out as the number one underrated destination.

Reasons Why Sedona is Amazing and Underrated

The Beauty: This is number one for obvious reasons. The first time you step foot in Sedona you are taken away. The brain can’t quite comprehend all of the amazing scenery that the eye is taking in. It just might leave you jaw-dropping speechless for a minute. The red rocks and blue skies are just stunning and many an amazing photo has come from Sedona, but they just don’t compare at all to being there in person. Look up #Sedona on Instagram, it’s a thing.

Best Climate in the State of Arizona: There is many a meme about the intense Arizona heat. In Sedona, because of its higher elevation, the temperatures are much milder than the typical sea level Arizona temps most people think of. It does still get toasty in the summer and there is snow in winter, but Spring and Fall are near perfect for enjoying the outdoors.

Dark Sky Community: What is that, you might wonder. The residents of Sedona are proud of the natural beauty that surrounds their town all around, even in the sky. They have worked to protect the beauty of the night sky and stargazing with strict city ordinances that tightly limit light pollution. The International Dark Sky Community designated Sedona the world’s eighth official International Dark Sky Community in 2014. A benefit not just to the beauty of the town, but to many native plants and animals as well.

Outdoor Activities: When hiking and mountain biking die-hards think of red rock destinations, they usually go to Moab. Sedona has amazing world-class red rock hiking and biking trails for all level of outdoor lovers.

Art Scene: If you can pull yourself away from the red rocks for a while, head into one of over 80 galleries in town. The Sedona Arts Festival in October is a popular favorite among art lovers as is the Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village.
