Best Hikes and Walks in Sedona Arizona

Looking for some of the best hikes or short walks around the Sedona area? Being real estate agents we travel to and from various places around the Sedona area and come across some unique hikes, events, activities and things to do, plus we get a lot of insights from the locals. It is our collection of some of the best hikes in and around Sedona Arizona.
The Cathedral Trail. This is a beautiful location paired with the beauty of Oak Creek and its canopied forest. This is a moderate adventure and when you get to the creek, the kids can jump in the water, cool off and get ready for the hike back. It's a great little spot also called the Templeton trail. This trail can be found off of Back O'Beyond Road from the junctions 89 A.M. 179, take 179 S. 3.5 miles to the road on the right. The trailhead parking is about a half a mile down on the left.
West Fork Trail. This is probably one of the more popular trails in Sedona's red rock country. It features gorgeous Sedona beauty, towering cliffs and seasonal creeks that you can cross up to 13 times. There are several ruins that you might come across and it's extremely historical. This trail is located in the "Call of the Canyon" recreational area, 9.5 miles from downtown Sedona between milepost 385 and 384.
Brins Mesa Trail. Located beneath the highest structure in Sedona, the Brins Mesa Trail takes you up along Wilson Mountain overlooking Mormon Canyon and soldiers path. This is an easy hiking distance of just 1.5 miles one way but it has an elevation up to 5000 feet. It takes about two hours and you want to start at L'Augerge, go right onto 89A .3 miles, left onto Jordan Road, and left onto W. Park Ridge Rd. The trailhead will be up ahead.
Little Horse. This moderate trail winds along the red rock landscape through several dry Creek washes and finishes on top of Chicken Point. Hikers get beautiful views of Cathedral rock and Gibraltar rock as well as several other landmarks along the skyline. This is a total of about 3 1/2 miles and takes about an hour and a half. You want to head out left on 89 A, left on Highway 179 and the South 3.5 miles to arrive at the Little Horse Trailhead.
Courthouse Butte Loop Trail. This moderate hike is perfect for the entire family and well worth completing the entire loop. It's a total of 4.2 miles and it takes about 2 1/2 hours. You get the most scenic and tranquil views of the beautiful landscaping and the north side of the courthouse as well as a cluster of Ocotillo called Pancake Rock.
Devils Bridge. This one and a half hour, under 2-mile trail is a moderate hike boasting some of the largest and most beautiful natural sandstone in the area. One of the trails will take you to the beautiful Stonebridge arch and at the top you get a breathtaking view of red rock country. To get better, the main parking area is located on FR 152, which can be quite treacherous. You can also take the chuckwagon trail to reach the Devils Bridge parking at the Dry Creek Vista parking area or along Long Canyon Road. This is a very popular hike however so don't plan on being alone.
Fay Canyon Trail. This hike is perfect for the whole family 10 is about two and half miles round-trip taking an hour and a half. This is a popular destination for casual walkers and hikers alike. Hikers can get a beautiful glimpse of the natural arches that are located about a half a mile up the trail. There is a small hidden canyon if you continue on that offers beautiful views of surrounding cliffs. To get there you want to go left on 89A about 3.3 miles and then take a right on Dry Creek Road, go about 3 miles and take a left on Boynton Pass Road. You want to take a left again in about .5 miles and arrive at the trailhead.
