THINGS TO DO
SEDONA & VERDE VALLEY

To assure Sedona’s sustainability as a natural, spiritual wonder for generations to come, we invite you to join our culture of respect for our environment and way of life by agreeing to these 9 pledge points.
1. The rocks are red and the silence is golden. I vow to respect the natural quiet of Sedona's open spaces and neighborhoods.
2. I will be mindful of Sedona's arid environment by minimizing my water and energy use and I will be extremely careful with fire.
3. I’ll make my own memories, but not my own trails.
4. I won't risk life or limb (human or sapling) for more likes. I won't get killed for a killer photo.
5. When playing outside, I'll be ready for rapid changes in weather and random episodes of magic.
6. Leave No Trace and pack out trash - that includes TP and pup poo!
7. I will discover art in Sedona's galleries rather than making my own. Carving on trees or rocks, stacking stones, or defacing the environment diminishes nature's art.
8. If I can't find a parking spot, I will not invent my own. I will go with the traffic flow, using my turn signal often and my car horn seldom.
9. I’ll be caring and considerate wherever I go, because that's the Sedona way.

Summer on the Farm
This summer, the Verde Valley School plans to open its doors for a weekly community event: Summer on the Farm.
Along with local students, farm manager Michael Spielman will be hosting the event. He hopes that each Wednesday night from 5 to 9 p.m., community members will come out to the farm for wood-fired pizza, movies, local artists, music and of course, the farm’s produce.
The farm, located at the school off of Verde Valley School road, already partners with farmer markets and restaurants in the area, however, the plan for the Summer on the Farm series is to expand the school’s interaction within the community.

The Practical & Entertaining Art of Drawing
with Ed Buonvecchio
Mondays, July 11 - August 15, 2022 | 8:00 am - 11:00 am (Arizona Time)
Drawing can be a useful and fun tool in your daily life taking you away from your stressful day and giving you a way to express ideas or memorialize experiences. Learning to draw can give you the skill to design something you want to make, begin a painting or serve as a launchpad to exploring other forms of art or teaching others your learned drawing skills. In this six-week ongoing studio class we will learn skills and tools needed to draw what you think and see. We will practice the use of pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, brush and paper surfaces. We will learn about perspective, value, line, shape and composition. At the end of each class we will complete a drawing or drawings based on the lessons of the day.

Fishing in the Verde Valley
Oak Creek is one of Arizona's most beautiful classic trout streams. Lush vegetation and gorgeous scenery backdrop an incredible fishery flowing downstream through a deep canyon gorge. The stream is stocked year round with Rainbow trout, but is also home to some beautiful carry-over and wild Rainbows, as well as some big wary wild Brown Trout that date back to the early 1900's and Zane Grey. If you're looking for the most beautiful place to fly fish in Arizona, this is it!.
The Verde River is one of Arizona's only two Wild and Scenic Rivers, yet it remains relatively undiscovered as a recreational resource. That doesn't mean this clear desert stream has little to offer. It's an excellent place to fish for a number of species including trout, which the Arizona Game and Fish Department has begun stocking on a put and take basis. The Verde is also becoming more and more popular for recreational boating. Some stretches provide scenic canoeing among long pools and manageable riffles. Other sections become exciting whitewater runs during the spring snowmelt or after late summer thunderstorms.
For additional information visit:

Canoe and Kayak Launch:
White Bridge Located across from the Verde Ranger Station on Highway 260, this site has picnic facilities and is the most popular boat launch for float trips to Beasley Flat.
Beasley Flat This site marks the beginning of the Wild & Scenic stretch of the Verde River which is recommended only for experienced boaters. Float trips take out here, and there are picnic facilities and a nature trail.
Clear Creek Though boaters can put in or take out here, this is not a very good boat launch. The access to the river is steep and slippery, and parking is limited.
Black Canyon A popular fishing spot, and a fun place to splash around on an inner tube!
