Sedona’s Butterfly Burger opened up in late September earlier this year. It is owned by local, award-winning, and famous chef Lisa Dahl. Here, burger lovers can choose from a variety of high-end gourmet “sandwiches” to please their palate.
Some of the World's Best Gourmet Burgers can be Found in Sedona
If you are familiar with Sedona and its restaurant scene you are probably no stranger to Lisa Dahl. Dahl has been a resident of Sedona for nearly 25 years and owns four or Sedona’s top restaurants: Dahl & Di Luca Ristorante Italiano, Cucina Rustica, Pisa Lisa, and Mariposa Latin Inspired Grill. In addition to her successful and popular restaurants, she is also known for her appearance on the Food Network Show “ Beat Bobby Flay” in May of 2018.

Dahl describes her newest restaurant as a “couture burger lounge” and got the inspiration after entering a nearby burger competition several times in Scottsdale called the Burger Battle. She entered her first burger battle on a whim in 2016 with the Gringo Burger. The burger was topped in white aged cheddar, remoulade, shredded romaine, crispy onion strings, and pickles. The Gringo Burger took home the People’s Choice award.

The following year she entered the Burger Battle again with a new twist on the same Gringo Burger and came home as the runner up for the People’s Choice Award. She entered again in 2018 with a new creation called the Funghi Sublime, a burger smothered in sautéed mushrooms and topped with truffle Gouda, dijonnaise, and pickles. This burger won the People’s Choice award.

In 2019 Lisa re-appeared at the burger battle with a storytelling aspect to accompany her burger titled the Waco Kid. It was named after a character from the 1974 Western movie “Blazing Saddles.” This burger was topped with white aged cheddar, bourbon and maple caramelized onion with bacon jam, Dijon sauce, and pickles. In 2019 Lisa won the Judge’s Choice Award. Her backstory helped propel her to bigger recognition. She realized it was all about a concept with a twist.

While some of the inspiration for Butterfly Burger does come from Mariposa, she was also inspired by the love people had for her burger battle burgers and wanted the restaurant to have a concept. So naturally, she went with gourmet burgers.

All three of the award-winning Burger Battle burgers can be ordered from the menu at Butterfly Burger along with a wide selection of other gourmet creations and six beef free burgers, half of which are vegetarian. The Royal beet is one of the vegetarian offerings featuring a beet steak topped in house-made teriyaki, roasted garlic herb Chevre and organic arugula on a whole grain bun.

Also found on the menu are a variety of soups and salads as well as milkshakes and cocktails both alcoholic and not to cater to all ages.

Don’t miss out on a chance to enjoy some of the best (and most famous) burgers in Sedona.
