Fall is Full of Fun in Sedona

It is finally officially Fall and a favorite time of year for many, including residents of Sedona. Fall is one of the most fun times to be in Sedona, not just because of the changing weather, but because of all of the great things to do in the community. Here are just some of the fun activities available during fall in Sedona.

Sedona Airport Family Fun Day

A favorite among Sedona residents, that is highly anticipated every year. There is always a large display of fascinating aircraft from historic to modern. Some planes on display include warbirds, vintage planes, and aircraft with the most modern advancements in technology. This year’s showcase includes a World War II B-25 bomber with a chance at a once-in-a-lifetime ride over Sedona’s amazing red rock country.

This event will be held Saturday, October 5 at the Sedona Airport from 9 am to 3 pm.

Something Scary This Way Comes

On October 17th enjoy the live readings of some scary classics including Edgar Allan Poe’s works, Grimm’s Fairy tales, indigenous people’s stories, a vampire, and some infamous witches. The event costs $10 plus a donation and begins at 7:30 pm at Tlaquepaque Village.

Pumpkin Splash

This is not your typical pumpkin patch pumpkin hunt. At the Sedona Community Pool, you get to pick your pumpkin out of the water. The pool will be filled with floating pumpkins and swimmers get to hop in and find the perfect one. Each ticket holder will get to go home with their very favorite pumpkin. The event costs $5 a person and is on October 19 from 1-3 pm.

Fall Arts and Crafts Fair

On Saturday, October 19 from 9 am-3 pm, take a peek at handmade goods from local artisans all over the Sedona area at the Arts and Crafts Fair in the Sedona Heritage Museum.

Haunted History

Head over to the Sedona Heritage Museum at the end of October for some scary stories narrated by Cowboy Poet and author Michael Peach. Titles include “Peoria’s Runaway Pumpkin,” “The Hauntings of the Red Ghost,” “The Cactus Killer,” and more. Storytime is 3-4 pm.

Marigold Mural Project and Dias De Los Muertos Celebration

Come participate in the ninth annual celebration of the Day of the Dead at Tlaquepaque. Starting October 30 at 11 am everyone is invited to join in the annual Marigold Mural Project. The mural is a 26-foot long piece of artwork painted by anyone who wants to participate. Paint and brushes are provided and are open to the public from 11 am to 5 pm daily through November 2. The festivities end with a Day of the Dead celebration that brings people from all over. Starting at 4 pm come and take in all of the beautiful decorations on the patios and fountains. Bring a picture, flower, candle, or personal object to honor a loved one and place on one of the ofrendas (alters). Enjoy live entertainment, dancing, and face painting and sugar skull making for kids. Day of the Dead costumes is strongly encouraged. El Mercado in the Calle Independencia will have agua frescas, fresh churros, man de muerto (day of the dead bread), cookies, taquitos, and hot chocolate. Don’t miss out on the Day of the Dead artisan booths as well. For more info and a schedule of events check out tlaq.com

Safe and Fun Trick or Treat
