Try out a New Hobby or Pick Up an Old one Again, with Photography 


Get out your camera or take the chance to play with the features on that fancy smartphone. There are many stunning photo opportunities all over Sedona. The scenery in Sedona is breathtaking and it is hard to take a bad photo. You can play around with acquiring new skills or hone in on old tricks you already knew.  
 
One of the best times to snap great pictures is just before sunset. The air is cooler and the lighting is almost perfect, while the scenery is indescribably gorgeous.  


 
Take a Ride on the Red Rock Scenic Byway 


State Route 179 is 7.5 miles of the best free activity Sedona has to offer. Named the Red Rock Scenic Byway, there are many scenic viewpoints (these viewpoints do not require you to purchase a Red Rock Pass for parking park) to stop at along the way. We suggest driving it in both directions so you can take them all in.

Check Out the Chapel of the Holy Cross 


As you are driving down the scenic byway on SR 179, you will see a sign for the Chapel of the Holy cross. This stunning chapel was built into the rocks in 1956. The building blends almost seamlessly into the landscape and is a marvel to take in. Step inside for a peaceful and calming break as well as a stunning view of Bell Rock.  


 
Take in Some Arts Culture at Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village 


While the price tags on the art in the village can be pricey looks are always free. Enjoy the Spanish architecture and courtyards and enjoy a stroll through many galleries and shops. For more local art also check out the Sedona Arts Center.

Find a New Trail 


Now hiking is an obvious activity in Sedona, everyone knows that hiking through the Red Rocks is one of the best things to do in Sedona, but there are so many trails out here we guarantee there is only a handful of people that have traveled all of the trails in Sedona. So go find a new trail you have never been on before.

Bring Out Your Inner Musician at Harmony Park 


Free Notes Harmony Park is located in the courtyard of the Sedona visitors center. Here you will find a collection of grand chime instruments that are free for anyone to try out, it is especially popular with kids. While your just outside of the visitor center you can stop in to see what is on the local events calendar, grab a hiking trail map to discover hikes you didn’t know about, or talk with the friendly staff about other free or little known activities in Sedona.
